Kindly note: Items more than 100 years old cannot be taken out of India without the permission of the Director General, Archaeological Survey of India, New Delhi - 110001

  1. The auction is conducted in Indian Rupees.
  2. The winning bidder is the buyer of the lot.
  3. The auctioneer has the right to divide, combine or withdraw lots from the auction without giving any reason. The bidding is totally regulated by the auctioneer. The auctioneer has full right to refuse any bid or bidder.
  4. The estimate figures presented after each lot are the auctioneer's estimated price and no bids below that will be considered.
  5. We do not subscribe to the theory of hidden or undeclared reserve prices. Our auctions are totally transparent without any such reserves. Hence, the estimate price of each item is the genuine starting price. 
  6. Each bidder has to register for the auction and will therefore be required to fill up a registration form with full address, telephone number and email id. Each bidder form has to be signed by the bidder. By filling up the form, the bidder shall be deemed to have undertaken to fulfill all conditions of the Auction. By making a bid, each buyer acknowledges his acceptance of these conditions and shall be bound by them.
  7. Those bidders who are new to the auctioneer may be required to furnish trade references or refundable deposit or identity proof at least 12 hours prior to the beginning of the auction.
  8. While registered bidders who have fulfilled condition 6 are free to bid in person, postal or email Buy bids will only be accepted from bidders who are well known to the auctioneer.
  9. All winning bidders have to pay for their winning bid/purchase within 5 days of closure of auction. For lots paid after 5 days, the auctioneer reserves the right of charging 3% monthly interest on any overdue payment.
  10. Delivery shall only be made against full payment
  11. Any charges incurred in receiving payment, credit card charges, etc. have to be borne by the buyer.
  12. It is strongly recommended by the auctioneer that if the buyer or bidder is present in person, he/she should carefully inspect every lot before bidding on it. Buyer or bidders have to satisfy themselves regarding the accuracy of their purchase, that is, the lot they are bidding on.
  13. Before making payment and taking delivery of their purchase, buyers must inspect their purchase, the auctioneer is not responsible for any discrepancy discovered after the delivery of the lots have been taken by the buyer.
  14. Extension for certification is possible but the entire process should not take more than four months from the date of the auction and the bidder/buyer has followed the procedure laid down in Term and Condition No. 15. However, such extension is not possible in any collections or lots that have multiple items or any lot that is already certified, that is, the lot is already accompanied by a certificate.
  15. Any extension for certification is only possible in the following steps: 16.Prior permission is taken by the bidder at least ten working days before the auction and complete payment is made by the winning bidder/buyer who has taken prior permission. Once the complete payment is received, the lot shall be handed over to the buyer, that is, the entire certification process is the responsibility of the buyer and the auctioneer or vendor are not responsible in any way. All requisite permission and legal requirements to aid the certification process are the sole responsibility of the buyer. Also, only certification by Royal Philatelic Society, London or British Philatelic Association, UK, is accepted. If the item is found to be NOT genuine, the buyer can return the item to the auctioneer in its original state. Any damaged or altered item shall not be accepted as returned. The item shall then be returned to the auctioneer and the buyer will receive a full refund within 14 working days of receipt of return.
  16. The auctioneer is solely an agent and shall not be responsible for any default by either buyer or seller or for any action that may arise in respect of any law.
  17. The auctioneer is solely an agent and hence not the owner of any of the items being auctioned nor are the items in his possession. Transfer of ownership of any items in the auction catalogue only occurs if the goods are actually sold, that is, when paid for.
  18. In the event of non-payment of any dispute, the auctioneer shall have absolute discretion to determine the dispute or resell the disputed lot.
  19. All Lots in the auction are shown by either images and/or complete description. Neither the auctioneer nor the vendor/seller is responsible for any error in the description. All statements as to the items being sold are statements of opinion only. The auctioneer reserves the right in forming his opinion or to consult and rely upon any expert or specialist regarded by the auctioneer as reliable.
  20. For items that are shown by images, the images are part of the description and should take precedence over the written description. Bidders have to themselves satisfy themselves regarding the condition/state of their purchase. On the request of bidders, the auctioneer is willing to provide images/scans of reverse of items where back scans are not shown in the website or the catalogue.
  21. The buyer has to pay any shipping and handling charges that are incurred. We shall only ship by either Express Mail Service of India Post or reputed courier services.
  22. Each lot shall be at the buyer's risk after the fall of the auctioneer's hammer.
  23. Bid increments shall be as follows: 0 to 1,999 – Rs. 250; 2,000 to 9,999 – Rs. 500; 10,000 to 49,999 – Rs. 1,000; 50,000 to 99,999 – Rs. 5,000; 100,000 to 999,999 – Rs. 10000; 999,999 onwards – Rs. 20,000
  24. Each lot is described with its year of issue.
  25. A Buyer's Premium of 10% shall be charged on the hammer price. Goods and Services Tax on Buyer’s Premium is 18%. Goods and Services Tax on Philatelic Items is 5%. As an example: an item sold at a hammer price of Rs. 1,000 shall be charged Buyer Premium of Rs. 100, added to it will be GST @18% that is Rs. 18. GST on the Philatelic Item of Rs. 1,000 shall be Rs. 50. The Buyer will hence pay Rs. 1,168 on a hammer price of Rs. 1,000.
  26. Courts of Delhi shall have exclusive jurisdiction in all matters pertaining to this Auction.
